About me

I am Nelumdini Samaranayake, presently working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Education and Health Systems Science, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Fort Worth, Texas.

Born and raised in Sri Lanka, the “pearl of the Indian Ocean.” Better known as Ceylon. I have worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (Sri Lankan operations) and Sri Lankan Airlines, the National carrier of Sri Lanka, for over 25 years.

After migrating to the United States of America in 2014 and joining the educational environment at Tarrant County College, I pursued my educational journey by enrolling in the University of North Texas, Learning Technology Department for my Bachelor’s in Applied Technology and Performance Improvement in 2016, Masters in Learning Technology in 2018, followed by the Ph.D. program in Learning Technology that was completed in October 2023.

My philosophy is to “Support education to learners who do not have access to a classroom environment, by consolidating solar powered energy, raspberry pi system, MoodleBox and wi-fi accessibility, to enhance knowledge.”

“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.”
